Private Maths Tutor
Primary maths tutoring in West London and online.
One-to-one maths lessons for children in Years 2 to 6. I identify the areas of maths your child finds challenging, address any misconceptions in their understanding or use of methods, and build from there. This helps your child develop a clearer understanding, work more accurately, and feel more confident tackling maths homework.
What Does a Private Maths Tutor Do?
A private maths tutor works one-to-one with your child to find the gaps that hold them back and close them in the right order. As a primary maths tutor, I teach Years 2 to 6 across number, calculation, fractions, measurement, geometry and problem-solving, so your child understands why a method works instead of memorising steps.
Number &
Place Value
Times tables, mental arithmetic and a solid sense of how numbers work.
Fractions &
Decimals
The topic most children find hardest, taught visually and in small steps.
Problem
Solving
Reading a word problem, picking the right operation and checking the answer.
Exam
Maths
Focused preparation for 11+ maths papers and the KS2 SATs.

A Primary Maths Tutor Who Explains Things Clearly
About me
I have spent 13 years teaching across the primary years. In that time I have met very few children who are truly “bad at maths”. Usually one early step was missed, perhaps place value or the link between division and fractions, and everything built on top of it feels shaky.
My job as a private mathematics tutor is to find that step and fix it. I use objects and drawings first, then pictures, then numbers, so a new idea makes sense before it becomes a written method.
Lessons are always one-to-one and I keep my numbers small each year, which means I know exactly where every pupil is and what they need next.
How I Teach Maths
Every new idea is shown three ways: with something to hold or draw, with a picture, and then with numbers. When a child can explain a method back to me in their own words, I know it has stuck.
How Maths Tutoring Works
A simple four-step process, with clear feedback to parents so you always know what your child is working on and why.

Find the
Gaps
A relaxed assessment shows what your child knows and where the confusion starts.

Build a
Plan
A personalised plan that fixes foundations first, then moves forward.

Teach &
Practise
Clear explanations, worked examples and plenty of guided practice.

Apply &
Stretch
Problem-solving, reasoning and timed work for school tests or the 11+.
Maths Tutoring at Home or in Person
Families who want a mathematics home tutor often choose online lessons, so their child learns at the kitchen table without the travel. We work live on a shared digital whiteboard, and I can see every step of your child’s working as they write it.
If you are in West London, in-person sessions are also available. Many families mix the two. The teaching, the plan and the calm, patient approach stay exactly the same either way.
Live one-to-one lessons, never group classes
Working checked step by step, not just the answer
Regular updates so parents can support at home
