About the Tutoring

I specialise in 11+ preparation, typically working with pupils in Years 4, 5, and 6 (ages 8-11). I occasionally work with younger or older pupils depending on individual circumstances.

I have extensive experience preparing pupils for both independent school 11+ exams, including competitive London day schools as well as selective grammar schools. Sessions are tailored to the specific requirements of your target schools.

I offer one-to-one tuition, and small group tuition is available on request. Every session—whether one-to-one or small group—is personalised, focused, and tailored to your child’s individual learning needs.

I provide comprehensive 11+ preparation across:

  • English (comprehension, creative writing, grammar)
  • Mathematics (arithmetic, problem-solving, reasoning)
  • Verbal reasoning
  • Non-verbal reasoning

Sessions are tailored based on your child’s target schools and areas needing development.

Practical Details

Sessions are available both in-person and online via secure video platform. Online sessions are just as effective and allow for greater scheduling flexibility. After the first assessment of your child, I may suggest which I think would work best depending on their individual needs and learning style.

Most families begin with one session per week. As the exams approach, some increase to two sessions weekly.

Ideally, preparation begins 12-18 months before the exam date. However, I can accommodate families starting later, with an adjusted program to suit the timeframe.

Getting Started

Simply email info@salisburyschole.co.uk or call 07463 519812. I’ll arrange a convenient time to speak with you and, if appropriate, meet your child for an informal assessment.

The initial consultation and assessment session is £70. This allows me to understand your child’s needs and for your family to see if Salisbury Scholé is the right fit.

Fees are discussed during the initial consultation and depend on session length, frequency, and location. Salisbury Scholé is positioned as a premium tutoring service reflecting my expertise and personalised approach.

My Teaching Approach

My style balances warmth with structure. Sessions are calm, focused, and encouraging — designed to build confidence alongside competence. I adapt my approach to each child’s personality and learning preferences.

If I feel that your child would benefit from additional tasks to do at home between sessions, this can be provided and I will give feedback. However, your child may already be receiving additional exam practice from school, and it is important that they are not overwhelmed with an unnecessary large workload.

Mindset and emotional composure are central to my approach. I incorporate light mindfulness techniques, breathing exercises, and positive reframing to help pupils stay calm and focused during practice and in preparation for their exams.

While exam preparation is serious work, sessions are never dull or oppressive. I foster curiosity and engagement, making learning feel purposeful rather than burdensome. Most pupils come to enjoy the challenge.

Results and Outcomes

I have an excellent track record, with former pupils securing places at top independent and grammar schools. However, I focus on holistic development — not just exam results — ensuring children are prepared for long-term academic success.

While I cannot guarantee specific results (as many factors influence exam outcomes), I am committed to maximising each child’s potential and ensuring they approach exams with confidence and competence.

I provide regular feedback after sessions and periodic progress reviews. Parents are always welcome to ask questions or discuss concerns.
